Ginger Prebiotic Lemonade (Print)

Zesty lemonade with homemade ginger syrup and added prebiotic fiber for a refreshing, gut-friendly drink.

# Ingredients:

→ Ginger Syrup

01 - Fresh ginger, peeled and thinly sliced — 1/2 cup (about 2 oz)
02 - Water — 1 cup (8 fl oz)
03 - Raw honey or pure maple syrup — 1/2 cup (4 fl oz)

→ Lemonade Base

04 - Fresh lemon juice, strained — 3/4 cup (6 fl oz), from approximately 4–5 lemons
05 - Cold filtered water — 6 1/3 cups (about 50.7 fl oz)
06 - Prebiotic fiber powder (inulin or acacia) — 2 tablespoons
07 - Ice cubes — as required for serving

→ Garnish (optional)

08 - Lemon slices
09 - Fresh mint leaves

# Directions:

01 - Combine sliced ginger and 1 cup (8 fl oz) water in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a gentle simmer and cook for 10 minutes to extract flavor.
02 - Remove the pan from heat and strain the liquid through a fine-mesh strainer into a heatproof vessel. Stir in 1/2 cup (4 fl oz) raw honey or maple syrup until fully dissolved. Allow the syrup to cool to room temperature.
03 - In a large pitcher, pour the cooled ginger syrup, 3/4 cup (6 fl oz) lemon juice and 6 1/3 cups (about 50.7 fl oz) cold filtered water. Add 2 tablespoons prebiotic fiber powder and whisk briskly until the powder is fully dispersed and the mixture is uniform.
04 - Taste the beverage and, if desired, adjust sweetness by adding additional honey or maple syrup in 1-tablespoon increments, stirring to dissolve between additions.
05 - Add ice to the pitcher or pour over ice-filled glasses. Garnish with lemon slices and fresh mint leaves as desired. Serve chilled.
06 - For a sparkling version, replace up to half of the cold filtered water with chilled sparkling water just before serving to retain effervescence.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • It’s as revitalizing as it is gentle on the digestion—ideal when you want something that feels like a treat but does your body good.
  • The sparkle of ginger and punch of lemon somehow cheer up even the dullest afternoons.
02 -
  • Adding the prebiotic powder too quickly creates stubborn clumps—my first batch taught me humid kitchens and rushed stirring don’t mix.
  • Letting the ginger syrup cool fully stops cloudiness and keeps the lemonade clear and bright.
03 -
  • Keep extra ginger syrup in the fridge—it brightens up everything from tea to cocktails.
  • A pinch of sea salt in the lemonade gives an electrolyte lift without changing the flavor.
